Prayer for ChildbirthMay 5, 2008A Global Call to PrayerPlaning a group prayer event? Please contact Jennifer to add your prayer gathering to the 2008 list. Feedback from Global Day of Prayer 2007Our group prayed at our church then took cookies and thank you notes to our local hospitals. The nurses looked thankful but confused since most people don't think to go out of their way to thank them for what they do. But one nurse at a small hospital loved the idea. Much to the surprise of her co-worker she asked us to pray for the nurses who worked there and the stress they have been under lately. - Joyce H. and Erin L. Immediately after the Global Day of Prayer I noticed a big jump in page views at the website. Someone had put a link to the Virtual Labor teaching tool on a busy message board for "cool stuff." Many of the comments demonstrated the fear of Childbirth so common in our culture and I wanted to start telling them why they were wrong. I waited a day to see what would happen - the dialog continued with the readers of the site doing their own research about birth complications and sharing the safety of birth with each other. No midwife, doula or childbirth educator needed! - Jennifer V. As we prayed through the list of common interventions that are over-used in the United States, one of the women said, "All this happened to me." It was the first time anyone had given her information about the risks or even that many of the routine procedures are not recommended by WHO. - Samantha K.
